It’s an Arts Blog!

So I’ve come up with what I believe is the perfect description for what my blog is. Often, in blogging, writers must ask themselves:

  1. What’s my niche?
  2. Who is my audience?
  3. Am I special/unique?

So, what is my niche? I’ve got it!  Real Eccentric is an arts blog… A liberal arts blog.  If you don’t know what I mean by “liberal arts” here’s one definition:

2. college or university studies (as language, philosophy, literature, abstract science) intended to provide chiefly general knowledge and to develop general intellectual capacities (as reason and judgment) as opposed to professional or vocational skills.  From Merriam-Webster.com
I would disagree that a liberal arts degree doesn’t provide professional skills but… oh well, I’ll pick my battles.

I’m not going to be the nasty side of liberal arts many people think of when they hear that term.  I’m talking about real analysis from a real, independent person. None of that patronizing ivory-tower crud.  You know who I’m talking about–those annoying old profs who write letters to newspapers, making a show of their complete detachment from actual humans.  Those are the worst!
Even though I’ve had this identity-epiphany, don’t worry, I’m still going to post my photos, drawings, etc.  Nothing’s changing, now I just have a label for what this thing is.

Have an artsy-fartsy day, and don’t forget to like and comment! I want to know what you’re thinking about, really!
