Between A Plant and I

There was a plant today

Was terribly wilted,

leaves pointed to the ground.

I gave it a little water

And in the afternoon,

it had rebound.

I figure I’m a lot like this;

if someone’d just pay attention.

I’d perk up,

Make it through the day,

But then I guess we’re different in just one way–

Water comes from the sky,

It grow on my windows,

And it comes from my hands.

But I guess only love comes

from hands.

So between you and me, little plant,

I got it a lot worse.
